The truth needs to be revealed. The atrocities have gone on long enough.

Welcome to Wikitruth.

For far too long now, we have been watching the people in charge of Wikipedia slowly destroy what could have been something wonderful.

The freedoms they promote on their website and to the media are false. Wikipedia is not a free and open encyclopedia that anyone can edit. It is not the sum of all human knowledge, and the person in charge wants to keep it that way.

The powers that be have twisted and manipulated their own policies.

Wikitruth seeks to bring these issues to light in the hopes that through truth will come positive change.

[edit] Atrocities? Surely you jest

In the context of a world where children are starving, families are torn asunder by murder and greed, and war criminals sip fruit drinks on distant beaches, "atrocity" might seem a bit of a strong word. And sure, it's easy enough to pull out some great examples of much more pressing issues (in a global sense) than whether or not a Black Hole of Text Nerd is run correctly. But if you consider the stakes and the promise that Jimbo Wales and the Wikimedia Foundation are making:

I would have to just point back to our original goal: a freely licensed high quality encyclopedia for every single person on the planet. That's what I remain focused on daily.
— Jimbo Wales, February 20, 2006

...and then you see how many hundreds of thousands of unsuspecting people are thinking the information on Wikipedia is being reached at in a fair and just manner with the best and most accurate research floating to the top... and it's not...

...what you end up with is "information pollution", people starting to depend on Wikipedia as a source of information, sometimes not even knowing the information they're reading originally came from Wikipedia, and then you see that whitewashing, censorship, "disappeared" information, and other "atrocities" will have a very real, total effect on the world.

[edit] Hey, why can't I edit?

Because we want you to read this website, not be locked in a full-on piss-battle over changing varying articles to reflect the whims and madness of a thousand people. Wikis do work, make no mistake, but they ultimately only work when you have a small amount of people doing the editing. Sure, it progresses a little slower... but it progresses. Even we, this tiny band of intrepid adventurers, experience difference of opinion and heated debate over how exactly to stick our flag into Wikipedia's flaming ass. But imagine if there were a hundred of us, all nattering insanely over just how "wrong" Wikipedia is, while you got to pick through our thrown-together and uneven screeds. You'd want to go back to the mothership instantly!

So enjoy our work from the point of view of a reader; we promise to make it enjoyable.

[edit] What if Wikitruth is down?

If you find the wikitruth.info site is down, please contact David Gerard at Wikipedia, who has seen fit to download a copy of the entire Wikitruth site through his DSL line to serve as an official Mirror. Thank you, David!
